This view is looking northwesertly toward the Teepees from SR 17 (the river road). The teepees are a rest area on the east side of the big hill and are so called because the canopies over the picnic tables are shaped and painted to resemble Indian teepees.
The teepees may be seen slightly below the center of the picture. To the left of the teepees the Rio Grande may be seen.
There is a bend in the road visible to the left of the rock outcropping. This is where the big hill begins. It is one heck of a steep climb, particularly going up from the east. Coming in from the west is not quite as bad. Once you get to the top, stop and enjoy the view.
