This view is looking eastward from the top of the dam on Lake Amistad. The cliffs on the right are in Mexico, on the left in Texas. It is some beautiful habitat.
It is unfortunate that south of this view the river starts to get rather polluted. The mexican government has few laws on pollution and not much of a septic system. Sewers are flushed into the Rio Grande from Cd. Acuna, using water drawn from Amistad Reservoir. The American plants operating along the border do the same thing.
